Marcin Sikorski

Phot. Marcin Mazurowski.

Marcin Sikorski
. “A musician playing the piano” – that's the way he likes to think about himself. Considered once the most outstanding aspiring chamber musician, he has received acclaim from critics who called him ‘a phenomenal musician’ (S. Olędzki), ‘masterly accompanist’ (J. Kański), ‘precise and dynamic pianist’ (A. Rozlach), ‘outstanding chamber musician’ (D. szwarcman), ‘accomplished and imaginative pianist’ (D. Gonet) and ‘expert chamber musician’ (M. Komorowska). Marcin Sikorski has performed as a soloist and has participated in many Polish and international festivals including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (Germany), Festival Pontino (Italy), New Music Marathon (Prague), Bratislava Music Festival (Slovakia) and Polish Piano Festival (Słupsk).

Still, chamber music and collaborative piano remain the all consuming passion of his life. He has won chamber music competitions in Paris and Gdańsk and received prizes in contests in Pöstschach, Vercelli and Kraków; he has also been presented with best pianist awards in nationwide and international violin competitions. Mr. Sikorski has been accompanist for the last three editions of the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition. He has collaborated with Agata Szymczewska (joint Fryderyk Award in 2006 for the album Kronika XIII Konkursu im. H. Wieniawskiego Vol. 12), Anna Maria Staśkiewicz, Jarosław Nadrzycki and two prize winners in the previous edition of the competition, Soojin Han (second prize) and Bracha Malkin (third prize). Lecturer at the Academy of Music in Poznań.
