Programme
Preliminary selection programme:
1. F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: first movement of Violin Concerto in E Minor Op. 64 (with piano accompaniment)
2. J. Brahms: first movement of Sonata for violin in A Major Op. 100, or third movement of C. Franck’s Sonata for violin in A Major
3. H. Wieniawski: Capriccio No. 3 or No. 4, Op. 18
4. N. Paganini: one of the 24 Capriccios, Op. 1
PROGRAMME
1. Serenade in C for Strings Op. 48 by Pyotr Tchaikovsky WILL NOT BE PERFORMED.
2. The remaining compositions of Stage 3, i.e. 1st movement of one of the following concerti (G major, KV 216, D major, KV 218 or A major, KV 219) as well as 1st movement of Sinfonia Concertante in E flat major, KV 364/320d by W. A. Mozart shall be performed with AMADEUS Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal.
3. In line with Maxim Vengerov’s decision, participant of Stage 3 IS NOT OBLIGED TO PERSONALLY CONDUCT THE ORCHESTRA.
The Competition consists in four stages open to the public.
Except for Sonatas in Stage 2, the programme of the Competition involves performance from memory of the following compositions:
Stage 1 (9-13 October 2011)
1. J. S. Bach: first and second movement of a sonata for solo violin BWV 1001, 1003, 1005 or Chaconne from Partita BWV 1004
2. N. Paganini: one of the 24 Capriccios, Op. 1
3. H. Wieniawski: one capriccio of ”L’ école moderne pour violon seul”, Op. 10
4. Free composition - one of the following:
