11th National Zdzisław Jahnke Violin Competition – Applications Open
The Henryk Wieniawski Music Society in Poznań and the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music invite young violinists to participate in the 11th National Zdzisław Jahnke Violin Competition. The event will take place from November 8 to 15, 2025, in Poznań.
Who can participate?
Violinists born between 1996 and 2008, who are studying at Polish music schools or universities, or are graduates thereof, as well as Polish citizens studying abroad, are eligible to apply. Foreigners who have completed at least one year of study at a Polish music institution are also welcome to participate.
Applications should be sent by September 30 to: oks@wieniawski.pl.
Prizes
Financial prizes will be awarded in the competition. Any additional non-regulatory prizes, both monetary and in-kind, funded by individuals or legal entities, must be reported to the Organizer before the start of the competition.
Competition auditions
The public competition auditions will take place at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (Stuligrosza 1 Street) and the Adam Mickiewicz University Auditorium (Wieniawskiego 1 Street), and will be streamed on the Wieniawski Society's YouTube channel.
Final stage with the Philharmonic
The final round of the competition will be held on November 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM in the University Auditorium in Poznań. The finalists will perform accompanied by the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Łukasz Borowicz. The program will include Henryk Wieniawski's Violin Concertos: D minor, Op. 22 and/or F-sharp minor, Op. 14, as well as Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major, Op. 60.
