Preselections for the 17th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition
Preselections (Stage 2)
125 violinists from around the world have qualified for the second stage of the pre-selections for the 17th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznań. 113 of them have submitted a demanding programme featuring works by J.S. Bach, N. Paganini, and the Competition’s patron, Henryk Wieniawski.
The Pre-selection Jury met in Poznań from 13 to 17 May. It consisted of outstanding artists and first-prize winners of previous editions of the Competition: Bartłomiej Nizioł (Chairman of the Jury), Alena Baeva, and Agata Szymczewska.
The Jury’s task was to select 49 participants who will join Zofia Anna Olesik (first-prize winner of the 11th National Zdzisław Jahnke Violin Competition, 2025). Zofia Anna Olesik has already earned the right to participate in the 17th Wieniawski Competition without undergoing qualification.
Public Release of Recordings
Recordings of all candidates were made available to the general public. The performances could be viewed on the official YouTube channel of the Wieniawski Society exclusively during the Jury’s deliberations: from Wednesday, 13 May (6:00 PM CEST) to Sunday, 17 May (6:00 PM CEST).To ensure conditions conducive to focused listening and to preserve complete impartiality, the comment function on YouTube was disabled for these recordings.
Announcement of Results
The official list of the 50 participants of the 17th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition will be published by 1 June 2026.
